Dr. Jones joined Luminary Therapeutics in 2023 as a protein engineer and gene-editing specialist. He earned his PhD in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, and Biophysics from the University of Minnesota in 2017, where he pioneered computational tools for protein stabilization and reconstructed ancestral enzymes to decode evolutionary mechanisms. In industry, Dr. Jones spearheaded the engineering of TcBuster, a hyperactive transposase system now in clinical trials for CAR-T cell therapies. His protein design expertise enabled key mutations that tripled TcBuster’s integration efficiency, overcoming limitations of viral delivery systems. This technology, developed at B-MoGen Biotechnologies and Bio- Techne, underpins Luminary’s non-viral cell therapy platform. At Luminary, he continues to innovate gene-editing tools to streamline therapeutic cell manufacturing, with two clinical programs leveraging his work.
