Hunter Gibbons, PhD

Sr. Scientist

Dr. Gibbons joined Luminary in 2022. Dr. Gibbons completed his PhD in Immunology and Microbiology from Vanderbilt University in 2019, working with Dr. Thomas Aune on Long noncoding RNA function in Effector CD4+ T cells. In his thesis work, he identified a novel lncRNA, GATA3-AS1, in Th2 cells and characterized the regulatory mechanism in the polarization process. His post-doctoral work was completed at the Mayo Clinic’s department of gastroenterology. At Mayo, Dr. Gibbons studied the inflammatory potential of T cell specific lncRNAs in Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
